Introduction
Andy Jung is an experienced corporate lawyer with more than 10 years of experience both as an in-house counsel and in practicing at an outside firm. He joined Allen & Overy’s corporate practice in 2016, serving in both the Seoul and Paris offices. He has held various strategic roles as an in-house counsel for Korean companies over ten years, in the technology, distribution, real estate, construction and chemical sectors.
He spent 8 years at Samsung as a corporate counsel based in Korea and led the legal team for the company’s business worldwide. For Samsung, he was in charge of numerous and complicated cases in litigation and investigation worldwide and contributed significantly to the company by saving settlement amounts and legal fees (over 100 cases worth over a billion dollars). Following his various in-house leadership, Andy Jung joined Allen & Overy to practice corporate law for Korean companies for their overseas business.
Currently, Andy Jung, with his long work experience and relationship with Korean companies, is working for a mid-size boutique law firm “Hangyeol” located in Seoul, where he practices mainly in the business sector for Korean companies and also for foreign companies who are aiming to expand their business into the Korean market.

Before practicing as a US-admitted lawyer, Andy Jung was an experienced legal manager at companies based in Korea. During his 10 years at Korean-based companies, Andy Jung was mainly in charge of domestic law matters to the extent allowed under Korean regulations.
Therefore, he is actually very familiar with the environment of the Korean legal system, regulatory issues under Korean regulations in relation to any business in Korea and has deep and wide experience in domestic legal issues. Also, he has a lot of experience in getting licenses, permissions and certificates from governmental agencies that were required under Korean law in order to start a new business, change a business form of the company and/or to expand the business.

In light of his extensive experience that covers both domestic and overseas legal matters, he has co-worked with many law firms worldwide, including the top 10 Korean law firms. When Andy Jung worked for Korean companies, one of his key roles was to hire outside law firms and lawyers.
It was also a very important task to reduce legal costs without sacrificing work efficiency and performance. In order to achieve this, he established a law firm management manual and process and regularly updated the status of legal fees to the management to find an idea to reduce the legal costs that might be used in vain.
